Dangote Refinery Assures Nigerians of Fuel Supply Despite Tanker Drivers’ Strike

The management of Dangote Refinery has assured Nigerians that there will be no shortage of petrol despite the ongoing strike by a union representing fuel tanker drivers.

A spokesman for the refinery said on Tuesday that the industrial action, which began on Monday and has since drawn support from other unions in Nigeria and abroad, would not disrupt supply.

According to him, the refinery—the largest in Africa—has begun hiring its own drivers to deliver gasoline directly to retailers, bypassing the striking union.

The development comes amid growing concerns over fuel distribution in the country, with many Nigerians fearing a repeat of long queues and black-market sales.

The refinery’s intervention is expected to ease anxiety as stakeholders monitor the standoff between the union and relevant authorities.
