Chelsea will host Arsenal in the League Cup this week as Liam Rosenior prepares for his first home match in charge. The Blues come into the tie on the back of an FA Cup win at Charlton Athletic, with no major injury concerns emerging from the game.

Mosies Caicedo will miss Wednesday’s clash due to a one-match suspension, while the availability of Gusto, Reece James, and Malo Palmer remains uncertain. All three were left out of the Charlton squad as a precaution, with Rosenior keen to give them extra time to prove their fitness.

According to a statement obtained from Chelsea’s website, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday, Rosenior said, “I’ll make a decision on Cole, Reece, and Malo tomorrow; I’m giving them some extra time.

“I appreciate that doing the press conference two days before is not ideal, but I’ve got time to make a decision as to whether they are available.”

The head coach emphasised that player health is a priority, saying that, “They’re being managed and it was a good time for them to rest in the FA Cup game. There is no reason to take risks on players’ health if you believe that we can win the game.”
