Southampton are prepared to offload Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo for as little as £1.5m in the January transfer window, with Turkish Super Lig clubs ready to move for the player as his future at St Mary’s nears an end, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Aribo has endured a difficult spell in the last five months, slipping to the fringes of the squad and struggling to convince either of the managers he has worked under this season, Will Still and Tonda Eckert.

Following Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League, the 29-year-old was expected to depart, especially with one year left on his contract, but he failed to secure a move despite interest from several clubs.

His situation has deteriorated further this season. Aribo did not feature until Gameweek 13 and has made only six appearances in total, amassing 114 minutes without a start.

He has not played more than 30 minutes in any match and has registered no goal contributions or significant attacking output.

With his contract set to expire in the summer, Southampton are willing to accept a reduced fee.

Aribo, valued at around €4m, is now likely to be sold for roughly £1–1.5m due to his limited role.

“With his contract up in the summer, Aribo has already garnered attention from Turkey, with Trabzonspor and Göztepe both interested in the CM. Saints will hope for a larger fee, but £1–1.5m is realistic,” All Saints noted on X.

Southampton could also reportedly sanction the departures of other players in January, including Sam Edozie, who may move on for around £6m, while goalkeeper Alex McCarthy may consider leaving if the club sign a replacement.

Midfielder Kuryu Matsuki is expected to go out on loan after playing just 35 minutes this season.

Aribo, who joined Southampton in 2022, is now set for a decisive winter as he searches for regular football away from St Mary’s.
